Involvement in ERA government affairs is an excellent way to support the industry; it is also a very fun and rewarding way to be involved in the associaton. Members may join our Government Affairs Committee, which has direct influence on the policy positions ERA takes. Members should also consider attending our Government Affairs Fly-In and our Leadership Dinner. We always appreciate support of our PAC.

The Electronic Retailing Association ’s political action committee (PAC) is an important opportunity to pool financial resources to promote a unified and powerful voice in the U.S. legislative process. One hundred percent of ERA’s PAC proceeds are used for federal candidates and committee contributions.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why does ERA have a PAC?

The PAC gives members the opportunity to pool their financial resources to promote a unified and powerful voice in the legislative process. In addition, it is a vital way for ERA to have a presence on Capitol Hill and influence decisions that affect the bottom line of e-retailers nationwide.

How does the E-Retail PAC work?

One hundred percent of the PAC proceeds are used for candidate and committee contributions.

Can I "earmark" my donation for a specific candidate or committee?

ERA has established a PAC committee to disburse PAC funds. Your comments and suggestions are welcomed by the committee, but the ultimate decision resides with the committee. They base their decision on candidates who are most likely to support our industry.

What are the rules for PAC contributions?

The PAC can only accept personal contributions. Contributions exceeding $100 must be made by personal check or written document. Individuals may also use their personal credit cards for contribution payments. ERA's PAC may receive up to $5,000 per year from any one contributor. In addition, a husband and wife each have separate $5,000 limits, even if only one spouse has an income. A joint contribution is made by more than one person using a single check. Each donor must sign the check.
